The Beginning

My big boy has almost completed his first week of "school." We found an awesome program in our town that caters to children 3 to Kindergarten. We put Cooper on the waiting list last fall and were accepted in the summer. He has been so excited about his upcoming adventure and I knew he was ready for some outside interaction.

I attended a parents meeting last week and as soon as the meeting began I looked around and felt out of place. These people were OLD! I had always been the one up front explaining rules and procedures and now here I was on the other side. Surreal moment for me and as I left the meeting I started crying. I have been looking forward to this moment for so long, for Cooper to be "just a little bit older" that I realized he was. I adore the three years old and up crowd and I feel I am in my element. Are there still challenges, fits and moments of doubt? Absolutely! But I feel more confident than I did with a crying baby. Just me.

Cooper has looked forward to each new day of school even though he has said he hasn't made any friends. He knows not a soul in his class and I hope he is able to break out and meet some new friends. He is an introvert when he encounters a new place, but give him some time and he is a social butterfly. His teachers have said that his is a "quiet, keep to himself" kind of boy this week. I anticipate a change of words in the next few months from these same teachers;)

He is only gone 3 hours MWF so Wyatt doesn't seem to fazed by it all. He seems to enjoy some one on one mommy time. By the time I drop Cooper off, work out at the gym and run a few errands my time is gone, so it seems to be a perfect amount of time for us. Next year Cooper will be going to all day PreK and Wyatt will be in this same program. That will be a huge change!

Oh my gosh!! I started crying! I can not believe how old he is. He is a lot like me on the introvert thing. It always took me awhile to warm up to people, but once I made friends I was the class clown. Keep me updated!

I know what both of you mean! I love the "big boy" moments and now I don't want to miss a single day. He's a cutie, for sure!

I'm going from picture to picture making comments. I feel like such a grandma! I'm having trouble figuring out the letters to type in a the bottom. Can't they make cleaner letters I can read! Ha! Cooper looks so big with his book bag. Brings back memories of taking pictures of you all the beginning of each school year.
