why I like eathing at home

I know, bad copy of our receipt. BUT!
A couple of weeks ago we received a gift certificate for a restaurant in town for $25 dollars. Woo Hoo! Off we went to a new restaurant and it would be free! I called to see if we could get on the waiting list as it was a Friday night and we didn't want to get stuck sitting in a waiting area with two hungry boys. Yes . . . they did accept call ahead seating so off we went.
Upon pulling into the parking lot the first thought that came to mind was, "are they closed?" There were only two or three cars parked and I check the map to make sure we were where we were suppose to be. Why, yes we were.
We had our first pick of tables and sat by a window so we could get a good view of the highway and all the cars/trucks/SUV's that the kids could get us to look at while we browsed the menu. We all ordered pop and the boys were even given a choice for the kid's menu on what they wanted to eat. Yippee!
I was starving and didn't want to wait for the main dish to arrive so we ordered some chips & salsa. We enjoyed each chip and admired the many cars/trucks/SUV's on the highway and wondered, "Where IS everyone?"
As we neared the end of the basket of chips I looked down to see what particular chip I wanted. There 'he' was a big old cockroach dead as a doornail, legs up in the middle of our almost empty bowl of chips. Ewww!
Brian took the basket and headed to find our waitress and the boys complained of no more chips and when was the food getting here. He found the manager and she assured us all would be taken care of and apologized over and over.
Our food arrived and I wasn't as hungry and pushed my food around my plate beginning to realize why no one was there.
The manager came out and said our food was on the house and she gave us ANOTHER $10 food coupon plus two dessert coupons for 'our next visit.' We thanked her and told her how we understood that SOMETIMES these things happened. She blamed it on the construction next door(?) and we nodded and said all will be fine. We left half full and laughed about the experience the whole way home.
Later that night I found the receipt from the restaurant. Did you look closely at it? On the reason there it is ROACHINCHIPS. They have a BUTTON for a roach?!?! Gross! This must happen ALL. THE. TIME. to have a button for ROACHINCHIPS.
Brian thinks she was able to type it into a computer but I have my doubts. I did work in a restaurant for four years . . . it was a BUTTON.
Now we now have $35 dollars AND two free desserts. Who wants to go to dinner with us?
