It was amazing to see how many people were at WalMart today getting flowers, balloons and candy for Valentine's Day. It was a sea of red and pink. I'm not a big Valentine's fan and Brian and I have never celebrated this day since we have met. As I told my husband I would rather him be sweet, romantic and thoughtful 364 days out of the year and ignore me for one day, February 14th. Out of the five years we have followed this tradition Brian always begins to wonder, "Is she sure?" and the comments from other friends scare him into thinking that I am just saying these things but secretly he should be getting me something. I can always see the stress and concern cross his face right before the big day and the reassurance that is to be given. Now, I am not a Valentine Day scrooge. I did fix the boys some heart shaped pancakes and thoughtful grandparents sent a card with some candy and I even bought them their own small boxes of chocolates. . . so I do give in a little.
