I finally have my pictures from my first 5K race in October. My boys were sent to stay the weekend with Aunt Amy & John since Brian found out he had a last minute work commitment and I was preparing for my race. I have never been a runner in my entire life and I really just started working out when Wyatt was a few months old. I have faithfully continued my working out schedule and it has now been over two years and the way my body has changed has been a work in progress.
When I first heard about Race for the Cure I was hooked and signed up to run with a group from church. Well I hadn't intended on running when I signed up, but was going to walk with everyone. We have a friend, Melinda, at church that was diagnosed with breast cancer soon after she had her third child that we were running for so that made the whole experience personal. Soon after I decided I would try to run the entire race and turned my workouts around to focus on running. I enjoyed the training and it was alot easier than I had anticipated.
The big day came and being downtown was a great place to be. I ran with four other girls from my church and the rush I had held me through the entire time. I finished in just under 30 minutes and I was proud of actually completing and running the entire race. I plan on making this a yearly goal and even want to try to run in a full marathon too.

Wow, I didn't know you ran! You continue to surprise me.
Love you, Grandma
I'm so impressed!!! Good for you!
That is very inspiring. How is the lady doing? I want to start running, or walking first I guess. We have a nice new treadmill in our garage, but Jonathan refuses to bring it in. He said it would bring back bad memories of his treadmill accident.
Thanks for the kind words Grandma & Lita!
Jessica, Melinda just completed her final chemo treatment. She has to wait another two weeks to see if the spots are reducing and to see what her next step will be. She is a big inspiration.
Wished you all lived closer, we could be running partners!
I'm so proud of you, Jennifer. You have really stuck with your work out. That is hard to do.
Jessica, I still have nightmares about Jon's experience with the treadmill! His knees have never been the same. Just take it slowly with him and don't let him run. Ha!
