"Daddy you sleep in Mommy's bed tonight?" overheard during story time from our 3 year old Wyatt right before bedtime.

Brian has been gone for two weeks and is finally back with us for an INDEFINITE(!) amount of time. The first since we have been married. The boys have to ask questions like these just to make sure he will not be leaving again and will be here when they wake up. Thankfully he will be, yet we thought he would still be gone another two weeks when he was called home.

An answered prayer was given last week as Brian got a promotion at work that will secure where he will be for at least the next three years. Everything fell into place in God's time and we continually prayed waiting for an answer.

Seven months ago we learned that Brian's unit was up for deployment again, this time to Iraq in December of 2007. He would leave sometime around Christmas and would be gone for a year leaving behind a PreK four year old and a three year old. At his return he would now have a six year old Kindergartener and a PreK four year old! The difference would be about unbearable.

Thankfully I wasn't the only person who found this news devastating but his boss at his daily job did too. Brian has been at OU for almost five years now and he is the best suited for his position where all his strenghths are brought to the surface. We feel very blessed where we are. During that time he has had to be pulled from his job for two deployments which put a strain on the ROTC program and it's students. His boss did not want this to happen again and began the process of hiring him as a active guard person(AGR)which would secure his position and make him undeployable.

We were hearing positive things from OU about this new job to open and thought it would come quickly and all our worries about Brian leaving would be put to rest. I haven't been an ARMY wife for very long, BUT long enough to realize they do not do things swiftly and we started praying.

Months went by with promises of an interview and yet nothing happened. A month before he was scheduled to leave for his first training session an interview was finally set up only to be 'postponed' two days before he was to leave. It was very frustrating and seemed nothing was going our way.

Off Brian went for four weeks for his first of three trainings for Iraq. It was depressing to see him go. I prepared for the worse and put on my independent apron and started single parenting again.

Two weeks went by and we heard nothing and finally he was called(from training)to come back home for an interview. We were able to see him for about an hour and then he headed back to training awaiting word of the job.

Two days later he got the call we had been praying for for seven months and what was even better was that he was admitted to come home and start immediately! *insert me doing the running man*

The last week has been busy signing papers, getting new ID's, changing insurances and giving lots of hugs to two little boys who missed their Daddy.

No Iraq and at least three more years at a job he loves doing more than any other job he has had in his life(and there have been MANY. . . heh?!) Thank you GOD!
