Grandma decided to start a
fire during the
day, when the
children were awake. We had been lucky all weekend because the boys were in bed before we would begin a fire and I didn't have to deal with my heart jumping into my throat every two seconds. BUT! Thanks to 'good ole granny' my heart may never be the same. Cooper is obsessed with fire. I try to hide all my candles when they are burning because if he knows fire is around he will sit and look at it forever. Said Grandma left a candle burning in plain sight of Cooper one weekend. There he was staring away as I wondered what it was he was thinking about. I went into the living room and heard "Aaaahhhhh!"
I turn to look at Cooper who is holding a piece of paper
ON FIRE! Okay . . . (1) Why is he still holding the hot, burning piece of paper screaming? (2) Let it go! (3) I am going to see my child burn his hand off.
I
say with my most stern motherly voice scream to "DROP THE PAPER! COOPER!!!" "DROP IT ON THE FLOOR!"
Papa reaches him before me and knocks the paper to the floor as Cooper is still standing there stiff as a board(sidenote: remember that game:
light as a feather, stiff as a board)
You would think he would stay away, yet this weekend we had a fire 10 times as big as that candle and here he is with a big old stick. I threatened him several times to stay seated and to quit walking around with that stick. Obsessed I tell ya!

Note to self: Don't camp with Jenny. Loosen up... it's only Fire! ;)
He probably gets it from my dad, you know how he is about bon fires.
Ha, fun memory...light as a feather...stiff as a board. We played that game a lot, you were the best at telling the stories.
:)
But Cooper likes fires. It isn't camping if we don't have a fire for the kids to obsess about. Of course my candles are going up after the last incident!
