Labor-free Weekend

I love camping. Being outdoors and having all the family together to swim, eat junk food and play. The last year we have been tent camping and it hasn't been the most pleasant of experiences.

This weekend we rented an RV. It was heaven. They delivered it right to your site and picked it up for us after we left. I was able to sleep in 64 degrees of coldness as the rest of the family bundled up liked it was winter. The boys went to sleep about 7:30 each night while we enjoyed eating dinner without kids. The weather was beautiful and the boys played together without fighting. I had the vacation blues when it was time to go. Everything went so smoothly.

My parents joined in on the fun with their own travel trailer on Friday night and Jon, Jessica and their three kids came down on Sunday. They brought with them a jet ski and we spent all afternoon in the muddy waters of Lake Keystone. Cooper loved the water and jumped right in while Wyatt needed a little extra time to get use to the muddy goodness. He eventually fell in love too. They loved riding the jet ski and everyone did fine except Brian who was pulled over by lake patrol. His 25 minute lecture got him on the right track;)

We did minimal food preparation as we had KFC Friday night, Olive Garden Saturday and decided we should actually cook on Sunday and enjoyed some great steaks and fried potatoes. Camping at its finest for sure! There were more than our fair share of crazies this weekend as we encountered a missing person(s) across the street that brought out three cop cars, an ambulance and a slew of park rangers on Saturday morning. Sunday our street was blocked as another man was arrested at the camp site for not cooperating with police. Then at the lake a boat suddenly pulls up with a family cussing up a storm as they jumped off the boat and ask my mom to watch the boat for them as they have to get to a fire. Off they go as my mom looks at us who are also already packed to go and on our way up the hill. We leave and figure the boat will be just fine. Crazies, I tell ya!

With such a relaxing weekend I have had a hard time adjusting back to the normal routine. I am ready for our next camping adventure. Cooper brought home a drawing of our RV from school today. Isn't he a great artist?
