Me, Me, Me

What an eventful weekend we had! I met my mom on Saturday afternoon to hand the boys over for 24 hours. PaPa and Grandma decided to take 7 of the 9 grandkids to a church party and overnight visit. Crazy for them I am sure! After dropping the boys off I headed to OU to met Brian for some pre game activities. I arrived there five hours before the game began and it was already a madhouse. I felt very important with my special ID tag on the car that allowed me to park in the circle drive where the press is located and get out of my car ten feet from the stadium. We ate lunch at campus corner and enjoyed people watching at its finest.
Brian 'worked' for a while as I surfed the Internet in his office to pass the time. I couldn't believe all the people and all the stuff going on. I really take his job for granted and all the perks that come with it. This was my first game of the season and he has been 'working' at every home game. Shame on me!
Thirty minutes before the game began five of the Army cadets lined up as Brian lead them to the gates. You felt very important as we charged through all the people waiting in line and moved right through them with somewhat ease to the ticket keeper. He immediately said hello to Brian by name and exchanged greetings with the other cadets as Brian flashed his pass and we moved through the side gate.
With swiftness we glided through the tunnel where millions of band members where waiting, seeing the end of the tunnel where the concrete ended and the green turf began. There I was standing on the turf of the OU football team! It was an amazing experience to then be taken by police escort across the field passing cheerleaders, ESPN camera men, black suited men, Ruf/Neks and even more police men. There we stood on the north side of the field, me with my mouth open in awe.
I couldn't go to another football game and be satisfied sitting in the stands anymore. The way to watch is right where we stood in the middle of all the action. As we stood taking it all in I heard someone calling Brian's name and it happened to be someone from his high school that he hadn't seen since that time who had spotted Brian on the field. It was a mini reunion and funny that that was how they met up again. Also since Brian is at all the home football games he has gotten to know most of the police men and other 'important people' who call out to him as we walked around. It was like being with a local celebrity! AND it is my HUSBAND! Cool.
Scariest part of the game? I almost was run over by the horses on the wagon thingy that takes the field(sorry! don't know the actual name)during the game. We were standing in the tunnel talking to some people when all of the sudden you see these two small horses running with all their might and the Ruf/Neks yelling to get out of the way because they couldn't stop them. My reflexes are not at the highest at the moment and it took me what seemed like forever to move out of the way as the side of one of the horses caught my side. Yikes! No worries, I was fine;)
I don't want to tell you that even though we had the greatest view in the world that we left at halftime. I was exhausted from being there ALL. DAY. This pregnant body can't stand for long periods of time and I was ready to go to sleep. Yes, I do realize that make me sound old. I really do not care. You don't want to see me when I haven't had my rest. It is not a pretty picture.
This was the start of many great weekends in November. Next up? Cooper's fifth birthday party. It's going to be a blast!

You're right. I HAVE seen you without sleep. It's not a good thing. And it is a SCHOONER (the cart thingy that almost ran over you). I'm so jealous.

Well it sounds like you had fun, at least most of the time. I would get excited, but its not Nebraska football. Not to get off on a whole new subject, but NE football is in need of some major adjustments, but I have faith in them.

Glad you're having so much fun. I'm still learning to like football. It's becoming a tradition in our house to watch college games on Sat nites. We'll be looking for Brian & you when we get those games televised here. Hope you have a great b-day party! I'll be looking for blog stories later.
