I had planned to have a babysitter and was
looking forward to joining him for the day and into the evening as he had been working on a HUGE project for the ROTC, HooahPalooza. Here is the Tshirt he designed for the event which was held on campus corner after the game and well into the night. He has been working on this project all summer and was very excited to see it coming together. It was a block party held outside on campus corner where they had coordinated with five different bands for the evening. We were planing on going to the pregame activities, the game and off to the party afterwards. Let the good times roll, yeah!

Only one little glitch, my babysitter was a no-go. Boo! Did it changed his plans? No. Did he have to find a suitable replacement? No. Was he stressed because he hasn't had a 'break' and was exhausted from parent duties? Maybe. That was beside the point, because he still was able to go and enjoy all that he had been working on for so long. I was staying home, no plan B. Hello? Pity party 101.
There I was scrubbing away mad at all the pee two little boys can make and wondering how much a nanny could really cost. Luckily I did have a last minute replacement and although I wasn't able to go to the game or enjoy the fun pregame activities I was going to go to the after party and I was going to make the best of it.
At 6:00 I turned in my mommy card and headed out to meet Brian at campus corner. This was the exact moment a MILLION people were leaving Norman and I sat in traffic for an HOUR wondering again why I was excited to get away from the house. Then I looked down at my gas gauge. Empty. Seriously . . . I am a gas Nazi , yet there I was with a flashing light taunting me as I sat in the middle of traffic.
Did I mention that I left my cell phone at my parent's house, last weekend? Yup. and I still didn't have that dern thing so I have no way of calling Brian to let him know my gas crisis or where the heck I was in this mass of cars. I make it about two miles away when I ask some random if I can use his cell phone. I call Brian in hysterics about the gas issue and then traffic finally begins to move and I throw the phone out the window and go. I pull into a grass parking lot as the van glubs to a stop. I walk towards campus with my purse held closely and my keys outright ready to stab the first person that crosses me(I'm crazy like that).
Luckily half way there Brian spots me as he is making his way trying to find me on the road. All's well and today it makes for a good laugh. At the time, not so funny.

Tomorrow morning class will be conducted in the bathroom as I will once and for all teach the boys how to clean the bathroom MOMMYway. In twenty years their wives will thank me;~)

I'm glad your learning how to be flexible. I think I enjoy activities much more when I don't have so many exspectations or a set plan on how everything will go. Just going with the flow seems to be so much less stressful for me anyway.
That made me laugh so hard. I can completely relate. In a 10 day period, Russ went to two football games, had 3 fantasy football drafts, softball and something else that I can't remember right now. I keep saying, where's my break? I'm home all day and I NEED a break!! So I'll be sending you an email about a girls' night out soon!! :)
Haha! I loved this blog! Very intertaining, at your expense. :) I'm glad you can laugh about it now!
That sounds like a scene only in movies!!! Wow - you are truly amazing.
Did you happen to hear a band called Eclipse on Campus Corner? I have 2 of those boys in my 8th grade class!! They are really good for their age so I like to take every opportunity to brag on them :)
Why didn't anyone tell us being a mommy was this hard!! John and I were at the game on Sat...we saw part of the block party as we were leaving. I am glad you had a great time...it look like fun!
