Choices

I'm sure you already know about this. It was shown over and over on TV, right?

OK, so maybe it wasn't shown over and over, but surely it was shown on TV at least one time, wasn't it ?

This was the largest re-enlistment ceremony ever held in military history.

The ceremony was held on the 4th of July, 2008 at Al Faw Palace, Baghdad , Iraq . General David Petraeus officiated.

This amazing story was ignored by the 'mainstream' media. For those who have been in the Al Faw Palace, you'll have a better appreciation of the number of people crammed around the rotunda supporting the re-enlisting soldiers. American men and women volunteering to stay longer in Iraq, so that when we leave, the new democracy will have a chance of surviving, is the exact opposite of what the media wants you to think about Iraq.

If only a bomb had killed 5 civilians in a marketplace - now that's the kind of news the media is eager to tell you about.

A pizzeria in Chicago donated 2000 pizzas that were made and shipped to Baghdad , and were delivered on the 4th. The media did report that 2000 pizzas were sent to Iraq on July 4th... The only part they left out of the report was the event for which the pizzas were sent.

I can't help but wonder...What would the opinion of Americans be if they weren't getting such obviously biased 'news?'

I googled this story the moment I read it in my inbox this morning. I found a great you tube video of the ceremony. . . WOW! It is amazing all the bad news you hear on the news about the war and how the positive news stories go unheard of.

I am by no means a political enthusiast, it all becomes hazy in my eyes. I have watched both the Democratic and Republic National Conventions. Obama's speech was amazing and powerful and there is no doubt he is a wonderful speaker. Speaking with friends they felt the same way as I did. McCain, eh? Not the best speaker, but listening to the message tuned in the left side of my brain. Leaving my emotions out-I can make a decision.

1.215 soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen made the choice to re-enlist. THEY feel they are making a difference and who better to know than the people actually THERE and doing a job they feel strongly about. Let us not sit and watch our TV and listen to the news radio and make a decision by what others are telling us. Go, research and read up on the candidates. Look for the positives, there is enough of the negative floating around.

My name is Jennifer Lusty and I approve this message ;~)

So glad you posted that...I was just talking about all of this with friends last night.

And I love how you said "1,215 soldiers made the choice to ree-enlist. THEY feel they are making a difference..."

They ARE making a difference. And I hope I never forget that.

Well said.

I'm a self-proclaimed political idiot and I too felt the same way after Obama's speech. But, speaking talents aside, I had to decide what I thought the real message was from both candidates and place my vote with whom I truly thought would lead our country in the best place.

No matter who gets voted in office in Novemeber, the most important thing is that our men and women overseas get to finish their job and get home safely to their families.

Very encouraging to hear something good today. Like you said all we hear is the bad and ugly stories. Glad you brought this to our attention.

P.S. Will and Rachel have a blog they are going to try and keep up with in Honduras it is www.antrikins.blogspot.com

Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it. I'm learning that with most things the media puts forth what they want you to know!

I really liked McCain's speech. He has a dorky quirkiness about him. It made Mom cry. Obama's speech was good too, very moving, but I don't know how much substance it had to it. This is the first election I have really gotten into.
See ya Saturday!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting with a friend of Jeff's who was home briefly from Iraq to be with his dying grandmother. (side note: he learned of her condition at 5 a.m. and the army had him on a plane by 5 p.m.) Listening to his perspective on the war, the Iraqi's, the politics, etc. was very enlightening to me. It is so true that we only get one side. GO ARMY! GO America! Go away Obama!

Thank you. I try to keep up with things. Keep praying for the troops people! They need our support because they definitely are selfless in giving us theirs and willing to put their life on the line. God bless the USA!
