For Grandma

We took advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend to get our flower beds back into shape. I don't have the best green thumb, yet I still enjoy the process of creating my flower beds and trying to maintain it. One thing I learned this season is that 'annuals' you must replant each year and 'perennials' come back year after year. Oops! I had that backwards last year and planted alot of things that died at the end of the season, never to return. Lesson learned and I made better choices in my purchases this time around. My Grandma gave me some things from her garden so I stuck those in the ground and am hoping for the best. Her gardens are beautiful and if I have a fourth of what she has I will be pleased with myself. Brian dug around two of our trees in the front yard so I could plant some more flowers and I think it all turned out awesome! Sadly one of our trees didn't make it through the ice storm and we will have to cut it down. I love my trees and hate to see it go.

Our fence is also complete and I love the boundaries it has brought! I didn't want a privacy fence for it would block the beautiful view we have so we went with the cyclone fence. Another check completed off our list of things to do.

We have a big plastic pool we brought out so the boys were entertained with that all weekend long and it was definitely hot enough to get alot of use out of it! I hope to keep everything alive this time around. I think my problem is I water it all TOO much and they end up drowning. One word of advice the gardening lady gave me was the more you ignore it, the better they seem to do. Any one else have some words of advice?

40 DAYS . . .

. . . since I have had Internet at my house. I am going insane!! It is still going to be at least two more weeks until we may have connection again.

There are so many stories I have to share and nothing does justice without pictures to go along with it. I randomly keep showing up at my husband's work with the boys in tow to 'hang out' with him and then I end up glued to his computer. I have only enough time to catch up on my favorite blogs(you!), check my email and when I check the clock two hours have went by. I miss all my Internet friends and family. I hope to be with you all again soon!

We are quickly approaching summer and spring break came and went faster than I could get done everything that I wanted. I can't believe April is already here! Wyatt will be three at the end of the month, Easter is this weekend, taxes are due, Brian will be home all month(yeah!!)and I am enjoying having a yard again with the beautiful weather.

We had a wonderful housewarming party last weekend, which was wonderful. I finally feel at home with all the boxes unpacked and pictures on the wall.

I think the boys were pretty affected living at the apartment. Case in point: (1) Whenever we are out running errands and we are heading back home we have to tell Wyatt we are heading to the house, not home. He will throw a huge fit and argue back and forth how we will go to the house and that is not the same as the home. Home=Apartment House=New House (2)Cooper is adamant about keeping his room clean. When I inquire about why he wants to keep everything clean he says that if he doesn't keep his area clean we will have to move back to the apartment, and he doesn't want that. Poor kids!

Happy Wednesday!

Weekend In Pictures

Five weekends. That is how long we have had together as a family, without any other commitments, be it work or family related. We have spent those five weekends at our apartment with nothing to do. My mom made the comment that it is either a feast or famine when it comes to visiting. We went from spending about two weeks at their house almost sending my mom to an early grave to not seeing her since. It will be ending soon as we will be seeing them this weekend and then she will wonder why she missed us so;)

Here our my boys in a favorite moment of mine. They are in Cooper's room playing together. There is no fighting, screaming, hitting or whining but only the sweet sounds of a conversation between brothers. My heart swells during these moments, sometimes lasting up to an hour(!) and others only a few minutes. Wyatt has joined in Cooper's obsession with cars, but will still bring Thomas & his friends along to race with the others. It is Cooper's number one choice of free time play. This morning as I went to get him up for school he had set up a town in his bed complete with a police and fire truck. "No mom, I don't want to get up yet. I'm still playing cars." I smiled and told him to have a good time as I shut the door quietly and then quickly ran back to my bed for a few more precious moments of sleep. Only to be reminded that I have another son who upon seeing light come in under his door opened it up to announce, "I wake up!" *sigh*

Having no yard has been a nightmare with two little active boys. Since we are inside more than not Cooper has been introduced to the Xbox. I can't say I was thrilled with the idea, but I do love the uninterrupted time it gives me and his daddy loves to play with him. What does this child play? Race car games. He is a natural and my reasoning behind it is that his is learning awesome hand/eye coordination. Why the coat? because I like to keep a cold house(58 degrees) and to save the money on the new one when we finally move. Jessica, my sister in law, would die if she had to stay here(ha! ha!). Poor Cooper is cold natured so he wears a coat most of the time. He'll survive. We've had no major illnesses here;)

Not be lost in the overriding sound of race cars from the Xbox Wyatt will bring in his microphone and bless us all with his singing abilities. Quite the opposite of Cooper who would rather die than sing in front of anyone Wyatt will sing(and dance!)for a crowd of one to a hundred. I admit I do hide this little gem on the weekdays so when I bring it out on the weekends daddy can be around to hear it too! A little star in the making. Cousin Jennah & Wyatt will be the next American Idol couple!

Another favorite activity for Cooper is to build a house for us all to lay down in and do as he says. His own little castle where he is the king. See how he builds this in Wyatt's room and still is able to demand what will happen in this room because it is his castle. But! if Wyatt goes near Cooper's actual room again Cooper will have a say in that one to. Smart kid, eh?! I've heard every one's comments on poor Cooper's smile. We have been working on that one. He does have a precious smile but for some reason when he knows the camera is focused on his face something within his brain clicks and you see this weird constipation smile that I'm not sure where it comes from, we are working on it. In this particular picture I said to show his teeth only and this is what I got. *heh*

We made not one but three trips out to the house this weekend. The tile crew has been working nonstop and the transformation is amazing. Here we have tile, counter tops and the sink installed! It is beginning to look more like a complete kitchen. By the middle of the week the tile guys should be moving on!

Other exciting news: I gave our thirty day notice to the apartment complex and the storage unit! YEAH! So if the house isn't completed by the end of the month who can we move in with?

So much is going on I do not have a fitting place to start. Things would be a lot simpler if I would update more often, but yet I wait until so much is filling my brain that I throw it all up here.

Cooper asked me to take this picture of them. We have been living without a kitchen table for the past seven months. We use our coffee table that sits in the living room in front of the TV. Cooper sits in a lawn chair & Wyatt takes the patio furniture chair. Apartment living at it's finest for sure! I usually separate the boys at each end and hover over them as they eat reminding them to sit in their chairs and to finish eating. The routine has improved as the boys have been threatened getting older and wiser to my ruling. In this particular picture the dinner was so enjoyable that they were able to sit beside one another and eat. Priceless! On the menu: Tacos, chips and a fruit of their choice. One of their favorite meals of the month.

Yes, they are already in their PJ's. Thanks to daylight savings time it gets dark early so after dinner we have enough time to read some books together and off to bed. 7:00 bedtime, I love it!

Our house is coming along nicely, although I wished it were completed last month. Someone is out working on it each day, but it still seems to be taking to long. My not-so-upbeat-attitude is rubbing off on my 4 year old. The other day he comes moping into the kitchen only to say, "I miss my car bed and all my toys, I want to move already." I try to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but the cold, yucky weather only feeds my attitude.

Painting is completed, lights are installed and half of the driveway is poured. The tile guy started last week and he should be finished by the end of next week and our counters are being installed on Tuesday. What we have left: carpet, hard wood floors, all hardware on the doors and cabinets, completion of the driveway and then the appliances! It is getting close.

We will be giving our 30 day notice in THREE days. Oh, what joy fills my heart! We have two or three couples that live a couple of miles away from us from our church and even one of those families has a little boy that is the same age as Cooper. They will be going to public PreK together this fall.

Hopefully we will be moving before the end of February, the sooner the better! The house has went very smoothly and it has been a wonderful experience. I feel overwhelmed as I look at the almost finished product. Our builder(s) have been the best! Our original contract has the date of completion being the beginning of May, exactly 9 months from the start of the building process of September 1st. They have been very proactive and made everything run very smoothly and they we have finished in 6 months. Yeah!

If you are ever in need of a builder, I have the perfect recommendation!
