15 months

June 2009 045 April 2009 150 June 2009 048

* Within the last week a whole new attitude has emerged!  A stubborn streak has made itself known and when you have made up your mind on what you want everyone else better WATCH OUT!  Papa and Grandma had the privilege of witnessing a 20 MINUTE tantrum involving lots of crying, screaming, throwing yourself down, hitting your head on the floor, arching your back and more crying.  I tried to ignore you and walk away, but you will have NONE of that.  You would follow me crying and once I stop you would start again with throwing yourself down.  It finally ended when I picked your limp body off the floor and put you in your crib with nothing.  Two minutes later . . . silence.  Tantrum over!

* Walking yet?  nope.  Why walk when you can get ANYWHERE you want ten times faster by crawling.  You can now stand up on your own from a sitting position and I have witnessed a couple of steps between Daddy and I.  Whenever we are outside you have to wear pants because your legs get beat up by the grass and rocks.  Walk already!!!

*  You are very verbal and can say lots and lots of words.  90% of what I ask you to say you will repeat.  So cute!  Momma, Daddy, Papa, Grandma, Bella, Brother, Eat, Drink, Bye-Bye, Jesus, Bible, Amen!, Amy, Ben, ball, nose, mine, shoes, night-night, and the list goes on and on.

* You are a boy on the go.  You like to be in the car and will cry if someone is leaving and you aren’t able to go.  Your best friend is the one heading for the car and taking you along for the ride.  You like to hold your blanket in the car, just like your big brother Cooper.

* Being a strict rule follower I took your bottle away at 12 months.  It was a BIG adjustment and in the moment it seems like you would NEVER drink again.  Now?  You love your whole milk and can drink it all day along as well as your watered down juice.  You can drink from any sippy cup I give you as well as out of a straw.  But I swear you didn’t drink anything for 3 weeks.  The stubborn streak started early :)

* You sleep 12 hours at night and are still taking two naps during the day.  I am trying to drop the morning nap, but you just aren’t ready to let it go completely.  I’m still adjusting your daily nap routine.  Sometimes it will be an hour morning nap and a two hour afternoon or you will skip the morning and take a three hour afternoon.  We are still working on it though.

* Meal times are stressful.  Whatever is being offered is totally up to you if you will even TRY it or not.  One day you might like hotdogs . . .that evening?  They are disgusting!  Yogurt for  breakfast might be fine for THREE bites, but that FOURTH bite?  Don’t even try it.  You are over yogurt now.  Grrr!  I’m not sold on just offering you something and if you don’t eat it then you are hungry for the next meal.  Between those meals is a NIGHTMARE and I am not willing to go through the nightmare for an easier meal time.  Who knows if you would even eat the next meal!!!  Nope.  I will stick with offering you a MILLION different choices until you eat a good meal :)

* You love your bible class and will go in with no problems.  You are interested in being around other people and new toys.  The past Sunday you moved to the one year old class, you loved it!

* Finally you cut FOUR new teeth(all on top)!  You had those two bottom teeth FOREVER and I was beginning to wonder when you would cut more.  The middle of April all four came in up top at the same time!

What joy you bring to our family!
